Intermediate. Some knowledge of crochet is needed to complete this pattern. Abbreviations:

Mc - magic circle

Ch - chain

St(s) - stitches

Sc – single crochet

Inc – increase. Work 2 single crochet into stitch to increase by one stitch.

Dec – decrease. Single crochet two together to decrease by one stitch.

Sl st – slip stitch

Gauge:

Please be aware that this pattern is designed to achieve two different sizes. The smaller version of this pattern was designed with worsted weight yarn and a 3.5 mm hook, that achieved a puppy about 6 inches tall when finished.

A larger pup was designed with two strands of worsted weight yarn held double as if to be one thicker strand of yarn, and a 6mm crochet hook to achieve a dog about 10 inches tall when finished.

Matching these specific gauges is not a necessity and can be adjusted to make your dogs whatever size you like. Every person who crochets naturally works with a different tension, and the hook size, yarn weight and gauge can be adjusted to make your item larger or smaller.

The hook optionally provided in this kit is a standard size and is not guaranteed to obtain this gauge for every crafter.
